A Personal Note To All My 2015 Readers

I started my series on purpose (sent exclusively to my subscribers) by sharing some of the things that led me to search for my purpose. “Well, what is it?” some of you might want to know.

This is a huge part of why I am alive: To positively influence the way women see themselves, and the way the world sees women.

Empowering women, working towards protecting their rights, and discussing/shaping gender ideologies is what makes me come alive. This is where my experiences, my background, my passions and the voice within have led me. This is my calling, my life’s mission statement, my raison d’etre. One day I will tell about all the specific dots, and how they connected. I do a little of that here.

While I have the what of my purpose figured out, the how is still a work-in-progress. What I dream of: getting to develop the ideas and policies affecting women in the spaces I occupy a bit further. What I know: part of the manifestation of my calling will involve writing.

And this is the part where I thank You. I would honestly write even if no one read what I wrote, but it helps to not speak to an empty room. Since starting my blog about 4 months ago, my website has had over 15,000 hits and reached an audience of almost 8,000. You are a big part of the reason why. Yes, there is so much more I want to accomplish on this journey, but it’s important to make a rest stop right here, right now, and acknowledge you.

Thank you for giving me a space to work out my calling. Thank you for coming into the room, and sitting down. Thank you for listening to my stories. Thank you for nodding your head in agreement sometimes, and waving your fingers in disagreement at others. Thank you for the hands you’ve clapped, thank you for the hands we’ve clasped. Thank you for every “Me too!” and every “Thank you!” Thank you for every time you’ve shared one of my blog posts, or reached out to me with a suggestion.  Thank you for every single time you’ve taken a couple minutes out of your day to read my rambling. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Gratitude is where I’ll leave this.

During this holiday season, you’ve given me lots of reasons to celebrate. I hope you have as many reasons to celebrate as you’ve given me, and many, many more. I wish you nothing less than a purpose-full 2016.

Merry Christmas,

BOS.
